Ruins of Bradgate House

I have posted pictures of these ruins before, but not from this perspective. This walking down a hill in the park. It was once the family home of 9 day queen Lady Jane Grey, who ambitious people tried to put on the throne following the untimely death of Edward VI, because they didn’t his sister Mary, a devout Catholic to inherit! It all went horribly wrong & Jane, her husband & father were executed.
It must have been quite an impressive place in its day.
Ruthless bunch back then weren't they.

@onewing don’t the Tudor court was a safe place to be, particularly if allegiances changed! Oh to be a simple peasant!

What a wonderful house and all that history. Our history is so bloody in places, isn't it?
