Phil has been avidly watching the woodpecker family that seem to have adopted our garden. I have also taken the odd picture of them. I think this is daddy Woody.
I like how he is balanced on the feeder. Are you feeding him peanuts? I'd like to attract woodpeckers as I see them in the area. Do they prefer peanuts to sunflower seeds? suet? and I assume unsalted raw?

@jyokota yes they eat the peanuts ( not salted) they don’t seem interested in the sunflower seeds or anything else. We appear to have four in our garden at times .
@carole_sandford I have some peanuts in shell for the squirrels and chipmunks but I need to get some not in shells then. The peanuts are rather big for the feeder opening but I guess the woodpecker just pecks at it? Thanks for the tip!
Glad I saw this pic. I saw a bird with the red patch of feathers once here. Never seen it before, The other day saw it again and googled it. Always seen it at a distance. Would love to see more of them.
