Old John by carole_sandford

Old John

Old John is the highest hill in Bradgate Park & this folly shares the same name. This land was once the country estate of the Grey Family of Groby. ( their daughter was Jane Grey, queen of England for all of 9 days.) One of the many times in history when women have been victims of men’s ambitions.
A popular place to visit and a lovely capture.

Interesting folly, it looks like a cross between Rapunzel's tower and a coffee mug.

@wakelys it is, the ruins of the Tudor house of the Greys are still there, there are volcanic rocks adding to the landscape & there are roe & red deer in the park too.
