Lovely day, yesterday,so I went to see the widowed swan and her family. She's raised three of the five cygnets. The workmen's barriers, which killed her mate, have gone.It seems all they've done is put in a new pathway.Don't know why they needed 6ft.barriers.I suppose it was all in the name of "Health and Safety".Was it all worth the death of a swan?I don't think so!!
Many thanks for all your comments and Favs, always much appreciated.
I've posted a shot of one of the cygnets on my other album.
Well done Mum. It is said swans mate for life, but not long ago, a male swan (cob?) was widowed in the local park when some appalling teenagers killed his mate. To many people's delight, he found a new partner within a relatively short time.
What a beautiful picture Carol and the story was so sad. Maybe she will find a mate like Toycamera mentioned in her story. She looks so pretty in the brackish colored water, with her white feathers.
What a gorgeous photo, Carol. Too bad this happened to her mate and wonderful that she was able to raise her babies. We are slowly or quickly, have not decided yet, taking over and animals of all kinds are losing their homes and lives. So sad. FAV
