This is where my son-in-law,George used to work.
"The Government House (Palazzo del Governo) is the landmark Italian building in Kos. It was built in the years 1927-1929 in the modernist Moorish style used in Eritrea and Libya, based on designs by the Italian architect Fiorestano Di Fausto. During the Italian occupation it housed the fascist administration. Today it houses the sub-prefecture of Kos, Law Courts and Police Headquarters.
In the centre of the building is a cool courtyard overlooked by balconies which naturally cool the building using the airflow off the sea. This building was very much a symbol of Fascist authority with the inscription Legum omnes servi sumus at the rear of the building overlooking the Plane Tree of Hippocrates, proclaiming the dominance of the law, and the ceremonial steps on the corner opposite the Fortress of Nerazia - the pebble stone mosaic incorporates the arms of the House of Savoy, Kings of Italy."To the right is the old castle.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs, always much appreciated.
