Shattered Life

Spotted this broken egg on the towpath by the Grand Union Canal at Gayton.I don't know what type of bird it belongs to,perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Could be a robin. It looks like it has blue tint like a robin's egg. Cool capture and hope the little one is OK and mama near by.

How big was it? Not many trees beside the canal so it could be a water bird egg taken by a mink.

@anitahoyle .It was a small egg,no more than an inch in diameter.There was another next to it,completely smashed and there were only bushes above,no nests.I think maybe another bird took them..

I wondered about robins too. We certainly get them by the canal here.
