Passage Through The Lock by carolmw

Passage Through The Lock

A narrowboat navigating a lock on the Grand Union Canal at Whilton Locks near Northampton.
Such a lovely relaxed way of travel now, but it was a hard life for those who made their living (and homes) om the canals werving the industrial revolution!

It's always difficult capturing all that's going on at a lock. This is a great collage.

I think the lock system is such an interesting invention. My uncle operated the lock on a dam in Alabama and I remember riding on a pontoon boat through the lock! (I was so young I had my favorite doll with me! )
