Happy Valentine's Day! by casablanca

Happy Valentine's Day!

My first ever selective colour in a photo! After spending a while with the manual for my camera and the Effects button on my Nikon, I finally discovered how to take a selective colour photo, so I am chuffed with this!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you, dear friends - every one of you has worth.
i didn’t look at doing selective colour in camera. My first attempt was in Lightroom which I wasn’t happy with so switched over to Snapseed. That was nearly there but not quite so I tried again in Lightroom and settled for that.

Lovely shot.

Lovely flash of red!! I must check to see if I can do this in my Canon 5D - it would save in the post processing!!

How wonderful, great pop of colour too.

Yes, to you and everyone on 365. Lovely shot and sc.

Nice.

Nicely done! In camera sc is so much easier than the 'old' way:)

@onewing I actually painted that at one of these ceramic cafe places years ago. Bit chipped now - like us LOL - but I still love the colour.

Great that you can do that in camera. The smooth red against the woodgrain is really effective.

Love the effect, but far to complicated for me if it involves buttons etc. 😀

Very pretty shot for the flash of red day. Happy Valentine's Day, Casablanca!

@chrisiow I have owned this camera 2 years and it is the first time I actually worked it out. That's lightning speed for me with technology! We are not intimate friends lol!!

To you too!!

I've been doing this effect all month, but I never thought to look to see if my camera had that feature. OK, now I have. I didn't see anything in there. I use Photoshop Elements to do it. I explained my method to Etienne in the comments for this photo: https://365project.org/tdaug80/365/2019-02-08#comment-29841008

Oh wow sad to say I didn’t even know you could do this in camera I’ve never go too far from manual or aperture modes - will have to give this a look! Really like the smooth versus the textures- happy valentines to you too

@tdaug80 That's so useful to have it written out like that. I don't have Photoshop, I generally just use the basic iPhoto software on the computer and sometimes use Affinity, which is very good but I understand about 1% of what it does! I was really glad to find this in camera because I don't do much in the way of editing and think I would find that quite hard work. Loving the results you got, all your images are just super.

Nice selection ( no pun intended ) for today! There are a few more tricks that the Nikon can do. Happy Valentine's Day!

A lovely Flash of Red image. I like those little heart-shaped candles.
February 15th, 2019
Lovely flash of red perhaps the first of many.
February 15th, 2019
Well done
February 15th, 2019
This turned out really well
February 15th, 2019
Oh wow, that worked very well Casa.
February 15th, 2019
Well done. I like in-camera s/c - but how did you get the little yellow ones?!
February 15th, 2019
@quietpurplehaze You mean the candles? I think the camera saw them as a shade of red! Other than that, I have no idea!

@casablanca

Oh right, thank you!
February 15th, 2019
Well done.

Well your camera made it easy-breezy! I had also put some simple instructions up on the weekly post (links to ones I had done a while back) that explained how to do it using Picmonkey from 365. Glad you had fun doing this.

How cool to be able to do this with your camera!!
