EXTRAS: Having a Whale of a Time

Further to my attempts at Splash Photography for the week's theme in my bathtub - camera survived taking a bath with me LOL!!

I went downstairs, set up my tripod and a wine glass with a blue cloth draped over my recipe stand, put a table lamp nearby, stuck the flashgun on the camera and dropped little plastic gems that go in a vase normally into the water whilst pressing the sport preset on the camera. I had the lens focus on manual and had pre-focussed it where I thought any drops might land.

Bit mad and not something I have done before!

But this one did look like a whale to me......what do you think?
good capture of the moment

Love it! It could also be a baby animal sitting up and gazing intently at something in the distance. All in all a great job!!!

Yes it does look like a whale's tail. I'll have to give this a try sometime.

Wonderful splash shot. They are so hard to do.

Yeah the whale has it or a snail coming out of the water too - but then i have been told I have a strange imagination - especially when looking at clouds - hubby thinks I'm mad!

I have tried this a couple of times but want to try more. Looked like great fun and a fab result.

Oh gosh -- a whale in a glass! Perfectly captured and well spotted.
December 7th, 2018
no I do not think it is a whale, but I do think you should keep this theme going.

@jacqbb Have a try! There are not many entries so far for the theme of the week yet. It's quite good fun. I took 120 shots and kept just 7 but I think that is probably fairly normal for a beginner!

You certainly had a whale of a time! Does that mean you are feeling better :-) I seriously hope so.
December 7th, 2018
@ludwigsdiana Thank you, today is the first day I could actually move better when I first woke up! Still need painkillers to get fully moving but took no more the rest of the day. Had a massage this afternoon, so that helped things along as well. I hope I am winning.......it's been 3 weeks now. Thanks for asking

Thanks for all the details of your process. For my splash, I just used the pop-up flash. I don't recall what I did about focus. I definitely see the whale here. Nice shot.
