This is the other member of the duo whose performance was so magic last night. The program's name was Two islands, because Sollima is from Sicily and Fresu from Sardinia, the two main islands in the Mediterranean. Yesterday was the international day of the Refugees and they mentioned all the people who come to Europe through the Mediterranean in search of a refuge. The applause was lukewarm, better it was very warm from some of the spectators and absent from others. Such a difficult and divisive issue BoB please
Another great portrait, sounds like a fabulous concert.
I wish it wasn't such a divisive issue. I came across this poem yesterday, which spoke volumes to me about refugees. https://preview.tinyurl.com/y32hweqr
@peadar I agree Peter. But music is not panacea, unfortunately. Read the poem mentioned by Helen. It made me think that we, even the ones who applauded and felt touched, were sewing in a beautiful theater, having paid for our chair the equivalent of several portions of food, and then wen back to our well conditioned apartments. In the meantime a boat with 43 refugees on board is in the Mediterranean, having waited for permission to land for at least one week. No, music is not enough
