My sister-in-law and her husband have a cottage on the ocean in Sooke, BC with a deck that hangs out over the beach. We were enjoying late afternoon drinks on the deck when suddenly this rather large black bear came strolling along the waters edge. Luckily I had a camera with me and got this shot as the bear ambled by.

@corinnec Indeed they are but most of the time they are more afraid of us than we are of them. This fellow kept eyeballing us as he walked past and when I moved to get a better angle he took off at a trot. I have a great shot of his bum.
@delboy207 There are plenty of bears in BC, although not in the city where I live. But once outside the city depending on where you go and the time of year it is not so uncommon to see bears.
