Sorry to post yet another Northern Flicker photo but I’ve become obsessed by them. We see them around every year but we’ve never had a pair nest in our yard before. I check them out everyday to see what they are up to so you might see more of them.

@ludwigsdiana To be clear, this is a two picture collage of the same bird, the male. He seems to do most of the work. When they started they were chipping away from the outside. As the hole got bigger he worked his way down with only his tail feathers sticking out. Now I can’t see him at all but I can hear him banging away. Every so often he comes up with a mouth full of wood chips and spits them out then goes back for more. Apparently the hole will be about 12 inches deep when they are finished.
oh , Don't mind at all, keep them coming, especially now they are so active and nesting. (I know that obsession feeling LOL) These 2 shots are incredible. How can you not post them!!
