First and foremost this is a thank you note to all of you. I can now look back on a little over a month of 365. I am beyond grateful for those I follow, those that have chosen to follow me and especiall your comments and favs. Your encouragement has got me using my camera in an entirely new way and I am having a wonderful time here. I am so glad that I noticed a 365 tag on a Pinterest board and decided to check it out. I can look back on this last month and see my life unfold. Easter, vacation, always the dogs and roses and so much more. Thank you.
Today I decided to share a little more of who I am. I am a collector of things. When my youngest son was about 12 we took a trip to Cedar Point - an amusement park in northern Ohio. We visited a little town called Vermillion and stopped in a family owned bakery. It was there that I bought my first hand painted barn slate. For a little over 20 years I have been collecting them everywhere we go. I've gotten smarter over the years and they are now labeled on the back with where we were and the date. At last count there were about 147 of them.
So that is a big Thank You and a little about me. I love seeing a piece of all of your lives and hope you will allow me to see more.
Cathy
What an awesome collection! Thank you for following me. I can say that as the months pass I get more and more into photography until now everything I see is a picture!
Cathy, I'm so glad to have connected with you here on 365 especially with our Cincnnati connection! I too feel that this project has been life-changing - my husband worries about this a bit since it seems that taking pictures is all I want to do and it's not quite time to retire yet. . . ;->
@lyno It has been so much fun meeting someone that also lives here. Makes for a great connection and you we know each other's worlds a little better. Thank you.
Wow! I love your collection, Cathy! What a nice shot to show it off, too! My kind of woman! My ex used to work at Cedar Point back in the late 70's during the summers to help him pay for college during the rest of the year. Was a nice place to visit in Sandusky.
Thanks Cathy that is an amazing collection. It is such a lot of fun adding something treasured to a collection. In a past life I used to collect Olympic Pins although I am long since out of that but have often thought of starting another collection. However at present I think photography is enough to occupy my spare time.
What a great idea! My sister has a similar collection on her wall of Welcome signs that are handmade, mostly crocheted. I love your collection! Thank you also for your nice comment on my flower picture today!
@marlboromaam Maggie - we had fun there when my son was younger. It was so large and Andy and my husband Tom rode every roller coaster in the joint. I had already had back surgery so I was an observer.
@cdonohoue I was only there once! I didn't ride a thing. He worked the "Guess your weight, age and birthdate" place with the great big Toledo scale. LOL!
@lwain Thanks Lindy. The photography, since my macro lens, is taking many more hours learning and just plain having fun. Now I guess I would like to collect lenses......
@marlboromaam I wouldn't want anybody guessing my weight. Very well kept secret. When I had my thyroid out in same day surgery my husband of 20+ years at that time had walked back with me and I made him turn around when we got to the scale.....
Nice to know more about you, Cathy. I'm impressed that you are a great-grandmother. You look very young and have a lovely complexion. I have never been a collector but it's always interesting to see what people chose to collect and how they display their finds. Thanks for sharing.
@meisen325 Thanks Monica. I am cheating just a bit. I am 61. My now 40 year old son married a woman slightly older than him and in the process I got a granddaughter. She is a young woman now with a 2 year little boy and I will be getting another Great in a few weeks. I also have one grandson by my oldest son - so my daughter in law has children 20 years apart! My youngest son is dating a girl slightly older than him with two little boys in that mix - one with Asperger's Syndrome. But they are just carrying on family tradition. My husband of 31 years married me and got my two sons in the bargain. So thank you for the compliment. 61 doesn't bother me a bit.
Sounds like you have a lovely family. It's just that when I read 'great-grandmother' I had an image in my head that didn't quite fit with the pic in your profile. Thanks for the clarification. You still look fabulous - great skin and beautiful hair.
@amandalomonaco You know the first one isn't in here. There are three walls pretty well covered and the first one is on this wall just to the left. It is House Rules. The back of it says It was bought on the day that Andy was as tall as Mom!
