I took this last night but I love this entire series of shots. I can't believe that I willingly went to the zoo with snow on the ground and spitting snow at the time. I freeze most of the time; I'm hyper aware of falling as I have a couple of stress fractures in my hip and next time the doc says I get to be bionic. So, we went anyway and I don't know when I've had this much fun. The Snow Leopards were spectacular. They were also having an incredibly good time last night with snow on the ground of their exhibit. The Cincinnati Zoo has two of them. This guy literally was hanging on the fence like this for at least 10 minutes. We kept thinking his other paw was bothering him as he was sucking on it. I was trying to figure out who to tell - no keepers around at night - when he walked around normally. I think we stood there watching and taking shots of him for at least 20 minutes. I'm not sure I've seen them move before. They are so graceful - so gorgeous. He looks like a big kitten in this shot. But bear in mind that the sign says they go around 120 lbs.
Isn't it amazing the things we forget about when we're taking photos? I love these guys - snow leopards are my favorites of the big cats. I used to visit them at the zoo when I lived in Winnipeg. Often, I was the only human that these gorgeous animals saw.
@timandelke I do forget what I am doing. And poor Tom was standing there in the cold.....luckily he is a good sport.
Did you get all your shots in? I only got nine. Too much holiday. I hope I entered them right. I had trouble this time with labels.....
@cdonohoue got them all in, did most of them early, before the holiday stuff got too busy. Nine is a perfectly respectable number, considering how few people actually did ANY! LaDonna needs a raise - she's amazing. She'll let you know right away if something needs changing- I had a lot of trouble with the file names last time and she was very helpful! Chrysta's been to my album and collected my pics. Good Luck!
Beautiful again Cathy! I am away at the moment and restricted internet but just a quick break from the cooking to wish you my freind all the ebst for 2013!
Well your venture was not wasted. What a great capture. The expression is priceless. I do love going to the zoo with my camera. I joined up as a friend of the zoo so that I can go there for just an hour or two at a time and concentrate on one animal or another.
