This was a mistake. I went to the zoo this morning, as did all of the rest of Cincinnati, because it is wonderfully cool. I was so sure what was in the bag that I didn't even realize I had the "wrong" lens until I got there. I couldn't turn around and go home or the coveted parking space that I got would never be there.
So I walked around with the macro lens on the camera when I meant to take the zoom. But I quickly learned that I was getting better animal shots than ever before. The Bengal Tigers are always a challenge as they are behind a very thick pane of glass that nobody washes. You can also see the reflection of the child that was standing just down from me. I feel sorry for the tiger - but he does have a huge amount of space to roam. But at the end of the day he still lives in a zoo and no longer in his natural habitat. They are endangered - more tigers live in captivity than in the wild where they are hunted.
Beautiful animal and a great capture, Cathy. I liked you story, too. It sounds like something I would do. LOL Tigers are one of my most favorite animals.
Gorgeous creature and despite not having the freedom to roam, it is better that they are here, safe and sound rather than being turned into rugs and oriental medicine.
Interesting interplay of the reflection and the real. I use my macro for a wide variety of shots and am always happy with it. It is great for portraits.
It's so sharp, I almost feel like he's standing in front of me. I've been wanting to get to the Cincinnati zoo, but haven't had time. Might make a good fall trip!
What a fabulous image!!!! Sometimes mistakes are a treasure! A beautiful creature for sure...so majestic. It is sad that there are more in captivity, but at least there are those. Thank you for the commentary!!
