I spent Feb. 1st doing something wonderful! It was by far the best day in the Dominican. Terminix Nation (about 1000 people) spent the morning filling meal bags, over 120,000 in all, for the Dominican poor. Living in America, working in my own community, I am very aware of our under served. I work hand in hand with my church and run an organization for children. But the Dominican Republic is one of the poorest nations on the planet. The man that runs City of Hope brought slides to show us and the decided against it. They were of children that swim through the garbage dumps with hooks trying to find food to feed themselves and their families. We filled bags with a cup of soy, a cup of rice, a scoop of legumes and a vitamin pouch. When all of our bags were filled the man spoke to us and their wasn't a dry eye in that ballroom. If you are reading this you are in the top 10% of the world's wealthy. Yes, you really are. We all have all of these fancy cameras, computers and smart phones. When I added up just the electronics that Tom and I had in the safe it was pretty amazing. Please, you don't have to send money to the Dominican, but reach out in your own communities and do something for those that have less than you do. If we all did that we could effect change in this world.
