It's December 26th and the big day has come and gone. Lots of us are right back into the fray buying wrapping paper for next year and exchanging all of the gifts that were given with such thoughtfulness and love. Instead of letting the guy from the side street merge in front of us we are again living in the mind set of the world being all about us and since we are in such a hurry......you know the rest of the story. Throughout the centuries folks have been asking why we can't seem to keep the Christmas spirit all year long - and I have no answer to that.
New Year's Eve is fast approaching and many of you are picking out clothes and looking forward to a big night of drinking way too much and making promises to yourself about how you will act going forward into what is viewed as a new start.
Wouldn't it be cool if we viewed yesterday as the new start? Whatever you celebrate this time of year, moving forward with love and gratitude could make a lot more positive changes in the world than losing five pounds or signing up for a gym membership that you only use twice. Quitting smoking would be a fantastic way to make a new start - but let's put that cigarette money into a local charity of your choice and really feel good about what you are accomplishing in your lungs and in the world around you.
Nice words, Cathy! Don't find many people smoking in my world at all much now but I know they are in the lower socio economic group. Wish they would give up! Nice to see your doggie in such good light!
a fabulous mono shot and words worthy of a larger reading. I often wonder why people cannot behave respectfully to each all year round rather than just at christmas. I do hope that i behave respectfully all the time
Great image of Maggie!! Very deep reflections on life. Of course if we acted like that all year long it would be great but then it would be the norm and we wouldn't have the nice change to enjoy even for a little while. Not saying it wouldn't be nice just saying we wouldn't appreciate as we do now
Great photo, Cathy. Definitely food for thought as so many just do not get it and in days as they pass the anger continues, black against white, police being killed and beaten so badly (too close to home). Fear, anger and rage of so many. May it be a more peaceful year though it may take many years for things to get better if they ever do and when Christmas becomes a non holiday meaning everyone works and all stores are open may I be long gone from this earth as that is the way it is heading sadly. Sorry if I have said too much.
