If you view my work at all you know that I spend a lot of time at Spring Grove cemetery. It is acres and acres of life on the National Historic Register. Once a year they hold their Lantern Lighting ceremony. Families gather for picnics, games, photo taking and lantern decorating. At table after table you can put photos of your husband, father, son, mother, wife, grandmother of favorite pet. The lanterns are each as different as those remembered. They had a swing band and would stop every now and again to read the names of those who the lanterns celebrated. As dusk approaches the mood changes and a bagpiper begins to play while the docents light the lanterns. At the opening notes of Amazing Grace the lanterns are set to float on the lake. As you can see this is a large lake is quite large with families gathered all around.
Our very expensive real estate is a drawer that would be over to the left back of this shot. It is #77 in black marble which Tom has named "77 Sunset Strip" We don't want to need it any time in the near future, but when the time comes we will know that the job is done.
A terrific image of the ceremony. I remember one of your last posts before you took your hiatus was about #77 Sunset Strip. So glad you came back to us
