9/365 - Guard of Honour

Just over a year ago my father passed away. A couple of weeks ago, on the first anniversary of his funeral, some of the family gathered at a local cemetery to bury his ashes and place flowers by the newly laid plaque. We now have two reasons to visit the cemetery as my husband's late wife was also buried here almost twenty years ago. We returned today with fresh flowers for both their graves.

The tree-lined entrance / exit to the cemetery provides an archway over us as we arrive and leave, like a guard of honour. It's particularly beautiful in the spring as the flowering cherries are laden with pink blossom and multitudes of tui enjoying the nectar.
This is a lovely guard of honour to pass through to visit your loved ones.
Welcome to 365.
