Busy with meetings again today,now that we are back home. This statue was in the shopping centre . I'm not sure why but it is a super piece of work.
Nice sculpture. Love the way the girl in the poster seems to be looking at it too

@chimfa It has to do with old rituals . In spring young man get to the fields in old clothes and where a mask and making music. They hit the ground with sticks to get a good new grow. (Briefly)

In the Pre-Christian Germanic fertility rite had Cultic men tied a major role in ancestor worship. After the severe cold winters, where many people deceased from hunger and cold, the young men went unions in spring fields on .They dressed in rags and made their faces black, so they were unrecognizable. They wanted to suggest that they were the epitome of the deceased. To complete their disguise they wore the masks. They moved in a procession on the land, accompanied by musicians who played on the bells and whistles. They hit with sticks on the ground, the seeds of the summer fruits until germination of spores .. the result, the veneration of a mystical cult of death is linked to a fertility rite, a spring festival.
