Do like ornate buildings, but from this shot of the whole buiding the very bottom level doesn't quite fit, missing a bit of ornateness if you see what l mean .....
It`s often done by architects as build in the same old style is called : Neo. Not very original. If it is done creative it don`t hurt each other .

@joannakate yes I know what you mean. Almost all blocks of apartments in Spain are built with shops underneath. I can't fathom it out myself but they do this everywhere. It can look most odd!
