It looked a bit boring on its own so I got out all the ingredients for a Christmas cake for Ed. Now I suppose I'd better get on with it. It's supposed to have a cup of dark rum in it. We haven't any at the moment so Spanish brandy will have to do. I don't suppose it will taste any different.
I look forward to seeing your finished cake! Brandy......rum.....whatever you have to hand methinks! I used Austrian Stroh Rum because it smells like old fashioned rum butter toffees but I don't believe the flavour is detectable after baking, just the lovely plumpness of the moist fruit it soaked!
