Coming up to St Joseph's day and here in The Valencia area some towns have enormous statues in their squares. They take days to put up and one night to burn! All have a theme and can be both funny and sometimes rude! In the days of Franco it was the only way to make a political point. Now they have a dig at local problems or national ones . We went to Denia where they have about 6 or 8 usually. There is also a parade of people dressed in the most beautiful local style costumes...more of that later.
