Getting the Bigger Picture

My supportive husband is always scouting out scenic areas where I might want to take a picture. He told me about a place that he had seen with all these lilly pads covering the pond and thought I might be interested in seeing it. I left early yesterday morning and when I saw this scene I literally said, "Oh my God"! The problem was there was no good place to pull off the country road. I finally parked in the grass off the shoulder and took a picture of the lilly pads as close up as I could get. To get this bigger picture I would have had to walk quite a ways and I didn't feel safe out by myself. My husband offered to take me back later in the day (it's about a 20 minute drive) and I was able to get this shot. No, I didn't do it justice. It really was so beautiful and I thought how much prettier it would have been if the fields had been green.

Anyway, long story......Happy Monday my friends!
This turned out so beautiful and tell your husband he chose the perfect spot. Actually I love the contrast of colors between the green lilies and the fields of yellow. That worked well!!! I can relate about being able to find a place to park for some shots. Frustrating at times ;-) I love your composition with the willowy tree, lone cloud in the sky and the pretty house in the background.

@cimes1 - Thanks Carole! I never really thought about the contrast in color but I think you're right. Believe it or not, that's a barn in the background. I'm sure this was one big beautiful horse farm. It's pretty secluded and I couldn't see a house from the road. I'll pass along your comment to my husband. He does have a pretty good eye!

What a great hubby! This is a lovely scene - feels so tranquil. It is so frustrating when you see a great shot and either can pull over or just don't have the time!!!

I really like the story of teamwork and support ... very sweet and special. This looks like a beautiful spot, and I agree with Peter - a good place to come back to from time to time. Wonderful golden tones!

What a wonderful husband you have! So thoughtful... to have noticed a spot you would like and to offer to take you there! My husband is pretty good about this too. He found a lovely spot... those lily pads are huge! Like the way you composed the shot!

This is absolutely beautiful, Cindy! And when enlarged it's even better. I think that your husband is wonderful to do this for you .... I love the contrast in color tones and your pov. Try it in different seasons, if you like. I do that all of the time. It's amazing how the lighting, scenery, etc. changes ... especially for me when the snow comes. I know what you mean about the parking. So many, many time I want to stop but cannot because of traffic or not wanting to shoot a photo of someone's yard, etc. Don't want to get people angry. I love this. A FAV.
