I decided to end my project with a picture of – what else – a barn and a sunset. Two of my favorite subjects. I have been honored to end up on the popular page a few times and most of them were pictures of sunsets. Carole Imes has named me “Barn Queen” (jokingly, of course) but aptly so because I am so drawn to barns -- especially the Quilt Barn, as shown here.
I hope you’re not disappointed that I didn’t come up with anything spectacular or fancy to end my project. That’s just not me. I’m sort of a low-key, simple kind of gal!
Wow, I can’t believe this is day 365. There were times when I was so frustrated and just didn’t think I’d be able to finish it but I did. This was a big accomplishment for me.
I have to say that this project has been one of the highlights of my life. Mostly because once I took the first picture a year ago with my little Coolpix I became hooked and found a passion that I never knew was there. It’s opened my eyes to so much beauty that I may have overlooked, had I not been looking for that “shot of the day”. It’s given me something to look forward to every day. Most of all, I’ve made new friends….and who can’t use more friends? You guys just amaze me with your God-given talents. I have learned so much from you.
Thank you for picking me up when I was down, inspiring me, encouraging me, and helping me get to this day. I do plan to stay on, but I won’t be posting every day. I'll most definitely be checking in to see what phenomenal photos you come up with!
I hope to be able to spend a little more time painting or drawing – which was my first love. Maybe I’ll post a picture of my first painting…..maybe. Hopefully, whenever you pass by an old, dilapidated barn at sunset, you'll think of me.
A beautiful and very appropriate last image for your project. You are a very talented photographer, Cindy and congratulations on the completion of your year. It is a pleasure being your friend and I have enjoyed your work a lot. I hope to see you around here in 2013.
Cindy, and fellow Kentuckian, I've enjoyed looking at your photos since I started my project Jan 1. Now I read you paint and draw. That is also one of my many hobbies (watercolor and oils). I would love to see you post some photos of your painting and drawings. You sure have some beautiful photos to use as inspiration. Looking forward to more...
Cindy this is so you and so appropriate. Congratulations and well done. I hope you will stay around and post shots of your art work. I'd miss you if you didn't!
This is a great final shot and fitting for you! Mine was a lone tree... Its good to have found a style I think which reflects your surroundings. The lighting in this is fab so its a fav. Thanks for all your supportive comments - I do hope you'll stick around. I think I said i might post only when I felt like it. Turned out I was more addicted than I thought!
Congratulations on your accomplishment! I am just starting out on 365 and reading your thoughts inspire me. It's a huge commitment, but already I can see it is really going to push me into some new territory. Again, congrats Cindy!
A lovely note to end on Cindy..........Enthousiatic congratulations to you for completing a mammoth committiment, and for finding what your heart loves to photograph, and for sharing it with us. I only wish that I came upon your world of barns much sooner. Well done, and all my best, Les xo
Awesome finish, Cindy. Congratulation! I have so enjoyed following you and seeing Kentucky through your eyes. Your barns and sunsets have certainly been a highlight of your 365 year. It has been great getting to 'know' you!! Hugs.
Congratulations Cindy!!!! I feel so fortunate to have been part of your beautiful journey & am happy you will be sticking around. You have opened my eyes to the the beauty of a place for which I was unaware & I now look forward to visiting Kentucky one day! Your talent & beautiful heart shine through all your photos which is a part of their magic & yours. Perfect end shot with those gorgeous sunset colors I associate with you :) i look forward to keeping in touch. Fav!
@nebzphoto - I really appreciate your kind words and thanks for the follow! I haven't painted in quite awhile so I hope I haven't forgotten how to! I'd love to see yours as well. I love watercolors but they're so much harder than acrylic, I think. I'll be checking in to see if you post any. Thanks again.
@fueast - Allison I don't know if I'll be able to stay away from checking your shots every day! You always post something new and different and you have such incredible talent. I hope I don't find I'm addicted like you did! I really appreciate your support and felt honored that you chose to comment on my pictures. Take care!
@purdey - Sharon, you were my very first supporter so you've seen me through the whole year! Thanks so much for your kind, encouraging words. They truly helped get me through it! I hope you'll continue to post pictures. I'll be checking on you! If you're ever in Kentucky, please look me up. I'd love to meet you. Take care.
@jgilker - Awwh, such sweet words, my friend. You've always been so supportive and encouraging and I so appreciate that. I would love for you to come to Kentucky! It really is beautiful country. I left you my email address on your website. I hope you'll keep in touch. May God bless your life richly.
Oh, Cindy. . .I hope you'll be back in some! This is just so lovely and so representative of what you love and have shared with us. Congratulations - and a big FAV.
@lyno - Thanks so much, Lyn -- epsecially the fav! I have really appreciated your support and have enjoyed your posts every day! Can't wait to see your slide presentation!
Spectacular sunset shot... and of course, I love the barn! And it does express your passion so well! Congratulations on completion of your first year! You have become a dear friend to me during this journey and I am so happy you are continuing! I would give you a hug if I could! I can't wait to see a photos of some of your paintings! So here's to a grand finale and to another beginning!
@calm - Thanks so much, Cathy. I have to say it feels kind of weird not feeling the pressure of having to find that shot today! But, you can bet I'll be out tomorrow! I truly appreciate all the encouragement and support you've shown me and we'll definitely keep in touch through email, although I do plan to check in here each week. I still want you to plan to come and see me the next time you're this way. Can't wait to see your grand finale. I'm sure it will be awesome.
Congratulations, Cindy. Your closing narrative was so well expressed and I feel much the very same way as you do about my time on 365. I would love to see your paintings, too. Painting intrigues me as well but I just can't take on another hobby at this time---I have too many the way it is. Plus I can't even draw a decent stick figure --LOL Naturally this spectacular barn/sunset final year one shot a fav -- awesome! I am glad to hear you will be viewing and posting occasionally. You are one of my top 365 friends & I would miss you. Glad we are FB friends and can stay in touch that way. All my best for a great year ahead. xo
Lovely photo to end with. I'm proud of you for sticking with the project (even though I didn't, haha) and happy for you for finding a hobby that you love and helps you enjoy life more fully. I'm betting that this year will bring some of your best photos yet and a more relaxed approach that will heighten your love for the art. Looking forward to seeing your future paintings as well!
@knmrussell - Thanks! I appreciate that. It helped that you encouraged and supported me along the way. I didn't think I was going to make it these last few weeks! I'm so looking forward to developing my photography skills and plan to start tomorrow! Want to go out to shoot tomorrow morning?
@cimes1 - Thanks so much, my friend. You have always been one of my biggest supporters and I can't tell you how much it has meant to me. I can tell you really put some thought into your comments and I know that takes a lot of your time, and you sound like one busy lady, so I appreciate it. It already feels strange today not posting a picture but I think I'll get used to it. It's supposed to be cold, but sunny this weekend so hopefully I can get out and get some shots. Thanks again for the fav!
this is such a perfect shot to end your project with Cindy. The colors are so soft and lovely. Congrats on #365!!! I hope you continue on because I look forward to seeing more from you.
Congratulations on finishing your year and I love the fact you final image was of something you totally love. I have loved coming over to your page and seeing what amazing capture you are sharing for that day. I am so glad you will be posting still. I can't wait to see what you do next. Enjoy your painting and drawing :)
Beautiful image Cindy and what a wonderful year you have had! I so enjoyed following you. I so identify with your thoughts. The sense of accomplishment means so much. Great job. All the best in your photo journeys!
