There is a very small, but unique, area on the outskirts of a city near me. It's called McConnell Springs, which is a 26-acre natural pocket within an industrial area. You can actually see manufacturing plants surrounding the property, which seems so odd as you walk through the beautiful trails with tall trees and actual natural springs.
When I decided to go there, it had snowed the night before and the snow was lying heavily on the branches so I just had to get out to shoot. Even though it was FREEZING, I managed to wander around the area for 3 hours. There was wildlife (including deer), birds, and a small but beautiful stream.
I'll be posting some of my shots of that trip over the next few days. The picture above is of a nesting goose and a side kick. I'll have to make a trip back in a few weeks to see if I can capture pictures of the babies (goslings?). Hope you like them!
