And, of course, now I'm curious about the indentation and that it doesn't lotion like snow or mocha so is it styrofoam, and all those kinds of questions about how you got that three dimensionality. @bpfoto you probably have 50 ideas for how to take multiple images of this screw and stack them. AND you might be interested in seeing @cityhillsandsea photos because you used to live in Japan, too. But I now realize that this photo isn't exactly the one that says, "Japan."
@jyokota Haha! We're feeling very technical lately! This is on a formica (?) desk, right underneath a fluorescent light, and I futtered around getting the angle so that the shadow fell like this. I was thinking about using another light but didn't need one in the end.
@jyokota also the depth of field covers (almost) the entire screw so there is little to no need for stacking ;-) I would have taken images from different angles and moved the light, perhabs using a more directed light source (flash or flashlight) - I do like the shadow, though, extending on both sides
