The iconic Scripps Pier in La Jolla...I spent the summer before my senior of high school parked on a beach chair just north of this pier, reading Sidney Sheldon novels. And trying to get a tan for my senior photo. I'm pretty sure it's the only time in my 48 years I actually had a little bit of color on my paler-than-pale skin (I'm mostly Swedish, but got my Dad's pink Irish skin).
