@cjoye So…help me out. How did you set this up, and get such good focus on this self-portrait? (I’m not a smart man ;).

@ggshearron Hi! Honest answer? I kinda cheat. At home, I'll usually use a tripod and a timer, but this was on an outing at the beach, so I set up the shot, set my camera's settings, and handed my camera to my 14-year-old daughter and told her wear to center the red focus square. My camera is big and unwieldy, and I use backbutton focusing, but I've let her practice enough that she does a pretty great job. Spot focusing is usually the biggest challenge because I almost always have my camera wide open for portraits.

Thanks for being honest, I really appreciate it. I too use back button focusing (for about the last 6-7 mos.) but have nit begun to try to have my wife shoot for me.
