Caped Crusader? by cjwhite

Caped Crusader?

Today's pic is a moth, instead of a butterfly. I think it looks like it's wearing a cape with a fur collar. ;0)

It's a Yellow-collared Scape Moth. The collar can be yellow or orange. The wings and body are bluish black. It looked pretty against the Goldenrod.

I like the feathery antennae. Most butterflies have thin slender filamentous antennae which are club shaped at the end. Moths tend to have comb-like or feathery antennae.

Thank you so much for the wonderful responses to yesterday's Monarch! I was so excited to see it yesterday. :0)
Wow, what an amazing shot. A fav for me.
