Blue Jays are clever birds. They use their voices to their advantage. This one kept sounding a danger alarm to scare the other birds away from the feeder. They are experts at mimicking the call of the Red-shouldered Hawk. Last year, before I had read this fact, they fooled me several times! :0)
What tricky little guys. Oh, I wish I had a better ear. I have a really hard time distinguishing the songs of different birds. Great capture. He is so cute.
Gorgeous capture, love the blue tail and wings. I think the nosy miners are stopping the rainbow lorikeets from the flowering trees in the park next door this year.
I, too, get their calls confused at times. When I think we have a red-shouldered hawk in the yard, turns out it's a blue jay. They are indeed very clever birds. Great shot, Carolyn.
