Celebrating the sunshine by cjwhite

Celebrating the sunshine

We had sunshine for the first time in a week. It was awesome! I spent several hours outside with my camera. I soaked up as much of it as I could, because tomorrow is a work day.

This mockingbird is special. I took a lot of pics of him today. When I got the pics on the computer, I realized he only has one eye. It doesn't keep him from being an awesome hunter. I saw him with a grub and a cricket, while I was taking pics. He spotted them from high up in a tree and flew down to grab them from the ground.

Thank you for your views, comments, and faves!!! :0)

Enjoyed the details with your shot - watching the birds is almost as much fun as getting the shot - and yours was a great shot!

He looks handsome and healthy!

He hasn't got an eye on the other side then? Doesn't seem to be much of a disadvantage considering how healthy he looks.

The sun was so glorious after rainy week we had! The sunlight in this is gorgeous! Poor mockingbird...glad he can still manage with one eye. I wonder, since their eyes are not on front of their head, like ours, creating depth perception, if they struggle less with the loss of an eye? But then again, they are missing sight totally on one while side....that cannot be good...especially if predators are around.

Those are mean birds.

Beautiful shot!
It's hard to imagine that a bird could function with only one eye, but he's obviously doing quite well.
