Sometimes the stories that go with the pics are better than the pics. This one has a funny story behind it.
I was outside without my camera and I noticed something across the tall grasses in the field. It looked like a huge bird. The first thought that went through my mind was ostrich. I have a big imagination. :0)
I had to go inside, change clothes, and get my camera. I was hoping the big bird would still be there, if it was a bird. My eyesight isn't the best. It was rumbling thunder, too, but 365 was calling my name.
My zoom lens clarified it was indeed a large wild turkey. I have a path I mowed in the field for picture hunting. I scurried along the wet path hoping I wouldn't scare my picture prey away.
By this time, I knew why the turkey looked so big from afar. It was sitting on the fence, between my field and my neighbors. I started snapping and inching closer. The turkey didn't seem to be scared. I was so focused on getting the turkey in focus, I didn't noticed the object under her feet. When It stood up, the whole ballgame changed! It was a baby turkey!
I took about five more shots, but I didn't try to get any closer. The mother turkey was huge and they fly!!! I took pics, until she started getting down from the fence. That was my cue to head for the house! :0)
Thank you for your lovely comments and faves! If you made it through my Mama Drama story, you deserve a special thank you! :0)
I read (and walked with you) every step of your hunt. What a neat experience that must have been. I am, as always, in awe of the crystal clearness in your detail. Beautiful composition.
