My co-workers know about my photography addiction now. I couldn't help myself. We have nice picnic tables under trees for breaks. There are always a few insects and birds flying around. Yesterday this tiny mantid was on our table. My friends aren't as fascinated with insects as I am. They looked at me a tad strangely, when I said I wanted the mantid to take home for pics. They did help me capture it and store it in an empty cigarette box. It stayed in the car for my shift and I put it in a jar when I got home. I was too tired for pics last night. Hubby helped me with my shots this morning. It was hilarious! He is such a good sport. The mantid was fast! The leaf is from one of my plants and hubby found the little stick to help with the pics. He is holding both, so I can take twenty or so shots.
We named it Joel, for our friend who donated the empty box. After the shoot, we set him free outside. :0)
Ha ha, your story is as good as the photo, made me giggle. I have done the same myself when trying to capture a good macro of an insect. Great shot and love the focus
