Tex Randall by ckwiseman

Tex Randall

This 47 foot cowboy stands by Hwy 60 at Canyon, Texas (near Amarillo), and he has been there since 1959. He was built to draw attention to the curio shop beneath his right foot. In those days he wore real denim jeans and a cotton checkered shirt. He was holding a cigarette in his right hand, but someone shot it with a rifle. It was later replaced with a spur in the 80s when smoking became taboo. Money is being raised to restore Tex to his original glory with a road-side park at his feet. For scale, I could lie down by his boot and it would be 1 foot longer than me! I couldn't decide on a single picture, so I made a composite.

Here's a link to a picture of what he originally looked like: http://www.newschannel10.com/story/23025423/canyon-gets-grant-for-tex-randall-project
