Pruning by ckwiseman

Pruning

I spent the morning popping off the dying blooms of my mums. As all you gardeners know, it seems when a bloom dies, it sends a message to its stem that it is finished. I must get that fading flower off so that the stem doesn't die and it will produce more blooms.

It always seems when I am doing a task in the garden that the Lord speaks to me with an analogy to my life. It seems as He was saying to me, "Carolyn, I want to take away those dead things in your life...the things that really don't matter... things that are not eternal, so that fresh new things will have room to grow." After all, He is the vinedresser...John 15:1-2 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit." Yep....that's the way He talks to me sometimes.
Have to fav as a reminder to listen about pruning in the way you present it here. Thanks for that!

You know your bible very well! It certainly is a lesson really - people die, new are born. I don't dead head my hydrangeas as the Public Garden ones are not dead headed and I learn from them!

@maggiemae I know some flowers don't respond to dead heading, but my mums sure do. If I let them go, they turn brittle all the way down the stem.

Interesting analogy -- works so well for the image.
