Sorting by colors and themes

I have been asked about the process to do my collage.
So I cut a lot of tiny pieces of paper ( this photo).
Then I sort them by colors and sometimes themes. (This photo)
So I’ve boxes of cutouts of one color each or one theme each.

I would have some of the trouble that you have. Which shade of a color goes in which pile. Lots of snippets of colorful images. Lots of tedious work goes into your collages.
