The difference between « étang » and lake is the size and depth : the lake is bigger and deeper. But the Etang de Thau is quite big (70km2) but just 4meters deep :
While sailing we’ve discovered a tiny sandbank and decided to stop close to it , it was fun to walk on it in the middle of the Étang.
