Easter is a big thing for the Catholic community on the island. They usually do a period of Lent before Easter, and most people partaking in Lent will give up alcohol for 6 weeks.
So, once Easter Sunday arrives, the beaches are usually very busy - many folk tend to camp for the entire Easter weekend, and its generally a party atmosphere, with much alcohol consumed. The tourists that are here are generally more than happy to join in.
