It is such a strange thing this! I can't really understand why putting padlocks on bridges is a way of demonstrating endless love! They look pretty rusted and therefore with texture, which fits with your title. I wonder how many represent couples still together?
Just another stupid fashion. There was one (in Wales I think) where there were so many, the Council had to cut them off as the bridge was as risk. They relocated them to a local park.
Good new for padlock makers though I suppose.
@marshwader - I have wondered about the stories there. Would someone go back and remove it if the relationship was over? Maybe you’re supposed to install the padlock and throw away the key.
