Window box, historic district, Charleston, SC

This picture was taken just before this week's terrible deep freeze. A mild December had the flower boxes in the historic district brimming with colorful plants and blooms. Some made it through the freeze, being hardy winter annuals, but many did not . All the camellia blooms are gone. I just hope the buds for new flowers made it. Camellias blooms only during winter here and can easily endure temps around or just below freezing, but not 20 degrees. UGH!!!
Oh that is so sad because you take such pretty shots of them. I guess there is always next year

Such a lovely window box. It's strange how camellias flower. In Cornwall they are an early spring flowering plant, usually coming into bloom in mid -february but this year they are in flower in early January

Beautifully arranged window box. No wonder camellias do not grow here.

Hey John!! We're practically neighbors! I'm in Georgia!! The freeze got my camellias and like you I am hoping the buds or at least some of them will make it!! Mine bloom in the Winter and in the summer here. These are such beautiful flowers in the window box. A really nice variety of flowers. Pretty colors, great details and clarity!! FAV!

@cashew Hi, Kathy! Yes, the current camellia blooms are gone but the buds look like they might be ok here . Not sure. We filled about five bowls with camellias the day before the freeze. Fortunately our white Sasanqua camellias had already bloomed and we really enjoyed them. All the camellias have been beautiful this year.
