Oak tree, Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, Charleston, SC

Some of our oak trees retain their leaves all year but each March turn golden and shed them all and then leaf out in full resplendent green. Such will be the case with this magnificent oak soon.
Lovely against the blue sky with just a hint of clouds :)

Is that the Live Oak?

@annepann I'm pretty sure it's a water oak. They are very common here and are quite different in keys aspects from live oaks -- a different shape to the tree and limbs and different texture to the bark.
