Low tide, Old Towne Creek, Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, Charleston, SC

Farther up along this creek in deeper water, the first permanent English settlement in South Carolina was established, Charles Towne, in 1670. The town later moved a few miles to the northeast to the present day peninsula site of Charleston.

All that green marsh grass! We have so little water here that much of the landscape ( that used to be green) is now dull and brown.
