Lake, Poinsett State Park, Sumter County, South Carolina
This is the upper end of the lake at Poinsett State Park where my brother, father and I used to go swimming during summer vacations when I was young. That would have been about 1959 or 1960. The park has changed very little, The scene looks the same as I remember from my childhood. I have revisited this special place many times over the years since then. Powerful memories and a long story.

Bugs! I see bugs! It is so funny - when we lived there we would just apply our insect repellent and go. Now, I think of the mosquitoes and no see-ums and get the shivers! But this time of year you were safe weren't you?
