So often when a group visits the Cathedral there is an older person with a story they really want to share and there is usually no place for it in the well paced tour. If I'm working in the church, I'm often blessed by their stories. This woman was a classmate of Bishop John Walker, I'd guess in the early forties. He used to help her with her history homework at Cass Tech and they were good friends. Many years later, her husband was a convention delegate and didn't tell her that Bishop Walker would be a guest at the Cathedral service, he wanted to surprise her. She weeped as she told the story. I don't know if the women in her group cared but I did.
