We would call him “hawk”. We have several living in our neighborhood now much to our dismay. One landed on our deck today in hopes of catching one of our songbirds. My wife had to shoo him away. They are beautiful birds of prey, BUT we wish they were not in our neighborhood!

@pej @pej @jernst1779 thank you both, this one seems to like the insects which come up through mole hills, probably beetles, worms etc.
