~Tear Bottle~

This is a picture of my Tear Bottle. I bought it almost 15 years ago when we lost Jim.
During ancient Roman times, mourners captured their tears and buried them with loved ones to show respect and affection. During the Victorian era, mourners would allow their tears to fall in decorative bottles, when they evaporated, bereavement would end, but the bottle remained as a token of eternal devotion.
This is what I often buy for special friends who have lost people very close to them.
Interesting story!

What a beautiful, poignant object. Something to treasure. Never knew such things existed, but so precious and meaningful.
