have you ever seen such a hideous mess. This is part of the kitchen for heaven's sake! The new carpet was being laid in the top part of our split level home and this meant two bedrooms, one office and my extremely cluttered craft room had to be completely emptied. Consequently the kitchen and other living areas including even the bath!!! had to be used for storage. Thankfully the carpet is down and we have been able to move furniture back where it belongs and start replacing everything. It has been a good opportunity for decluttering but why is it so hard to part with some things.
I don't know but I understand what you're going through! I really need to do the same with all my momentos. I know my sons don't care about them and certainly my daughter-in-laws have no attachment to them, but the memories attached to them are so powerful for me. I wish I had someone to pass them on to that felt the same way.
We had a bit of a throw out when we decorated and replaced the carpets last year, but not as much as we should have. As you say difficult to get rid of stuff.
@veengupta we are very much enjoying the new carpet now and gradually finding a place for most things but some of the stuff will definitely have to move on
I can feel for you. we're trying to sell our home which my husband designed and my son built 30 years ago. it's way to big for us two now and has too many stairs. it's time to downsize which means I've to get rid of a lot of stuff. once you get everything in place again, you'll be happy to got rid of what you don't really need anymore.
thankyou all for your great support.
