Grand fireplace...... by cutekitty

Grand fireplace......

......this is in our bedroom and very posh it is too. We live in about 2/3rds of a Victorian Villa....we have got the posh side (there are offices in the servants quarter next door !) The house was split in the 1960's (badly) and the offices side of the house has never been lived in an actual home. We have lived here 20 years now and love our 'posh' home !
Beautiful! Must be pretty special to be living in a Victorian villa :-)

@stiggle We love it to bits...it was semi derelict when we bought it.....the old lady and her elderly daughter who lived there had not done any decorating, gardening or housework since about the 1970's.........

Beautiful fireplace - glad you have kept it, as so many people rip them out. We lived in a Victorian house for over 20 years - it was fab, so I know that you care for your home so well.

A bedroom fireplace is a real luxury. We had one in our bedroom at the farm but never lit it. A fire when you’re in bed is so wonderful. I remember being ill once & my mum lit the fire & I lay there watching the fire flicker & smelling if Vicks! Good that you appreciate the original features.

@sangwann We think that when the house was whole our bedroom was used as the main 'reception room' at that time it would have had an excellent view of St Austell bay from that window and was by far the biggest room. The view is alas no longer visable. 'New' houses were built in the way in 1901 !!

@gardenfolk We have four here.....but only three are original. The one in the dining room was totally removed and a slate one replaced it......
