The Forrabury Stitches

....these acre sized long strips of land date back to Medieval times.......when they would each be allocated to a villager to work. Over the years some of these strips have been bought and sold or traded so they vary in size. It is easier to see them in the winter with no vegetation growing......but mighty cold to take pics up on the clff path in the winter !

Great to see this. On our recent canal trip in the Midlands, we passed areas of "ridge and furrow" fields that dated back to Medieval times. Always fascinating to see the evidence of history.

@jamibann When I have seen them previously, they were cut down quite low and the divisions showed up more. This year however, like a lot of folk they have grown wild !!!
